Governor Northam at a recent appearance at First Baptist Church

A highly anticipated event featuring the governors of all three Delmarva states has been canceled in the wake of controversy surrounding Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam.
As recently as Monday, organizers said an event with Northam, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan and Delaware Gov. John Carney was still planned, although with a wait-and-see attitude.
But the Greater Salisbury Committee, which sponsored the Monday, Feb. 11, apparently had seen enough by mid-week as Northam was embroiled in a firestorm over a racist photo that appeared on his medical-school yearbook page.
Mike Dunn, the committee’s executive, called the meeting “historic,” saying the three governors of Delmarva have never appeared together at a function on the Peninsula.
The meeting had been months in the making. The committee’s website this week said it had been “postponed/cancelled.”
