SunTec, the firm that is developing a solar farm on the VanKesteran Farm in Tasley has asked the county for an extension in the special use permit for the project. Speaking to the Accomack County Board of Supervisors Wednesday, Dennis Nordstrom, representing SunTec told the Board that the company was having difficulty completing interconnection agreements with ANEC and Eastern Shore Broadband.

Nordstrom stated that the interconnection fee has risen from $3 million in the beginning to almost $12 million. Nordstrom said that extra time is needed to negotiate the interconnection fee down to a point that will make the project feasible.

Supervisor Robert Crockett asked how much money SunTec has invested thus far and Nordstrom responded that approximately 25% of the projected cost of project.

Crockett then made a motion that the special use permit be extended for two years. The motion was passed unanimously.
