Sunday night rain provides some drought relief

Although it is not a drought buster many areas of the Shore received almost an inch of rain Sunday night.  Areas around Onancock received 0.87 of an inch of rain after receiving only .32 inches over the last 30 days. 

Down in Northampton, between .3 and .5 inches of rain was reported. No measurable rain has fallen over the past six weeks.

A burn ban remains in effect for Accomack and Northampton Counties including Chincoteague.

There is a 40% chance of some rain Thursday but only a tenth of an inch is expected at this time.
