
The Virginia State Police continue to assist motorist overnight during the winter weather storm, working hand in hand with the Virginia Department of Transportation in ensuring the safety of travelers on the roadway. Between the hours of 12:00 a.m., to 5:00 a.m., state police have responded to 181 incidents and activities across the Commonwealth. Of the 181 incidents, Division 5/Chesapeake has responded to 42 incidents, 22 of those being motor vehicle crashes.
A expected temperatures are forecasted to increase through out the day, moisture will still remain on the roadways. Motorist are asked to use extreme caution if they must travel. Motorist are reminded to be mindful of emergency vehicles and personnel who are out assisting commuters, slow down and or/move over, for their safety. Also, as VDOT crews continue to respond to improve road conditions, please keep a safe distance and practice patience, as crews treat the roadways and make them safe to travel for all.
Virginia State Police will continue to have round the clock coverage and availability for the duration of the storm.
