Six people were indicted by a Northampton Grand Jury earlier this week on felony charges that involve traffic crashes or DUIs.
Forty-five-year-old Corey Johnson, of Battle Point Road in Exmore, was indicted on a May 4 count of hit and run with injury. The incident occurred on May 4 on Lankford Highway in Northampton. An exact location was not available. A breathalyzer test showed Johnson measured .22 grams per 210 liters of breath. The legal limit is .08.
According to medicalnewstoday.com, “When a person reaches .20 … levels, they are significantly impaired. They cannot drive a car and may vomit, feel confused or dazed, and experience balance and coordination issues. Choking and blackouts can also be an issue at this level of intoxication.”
Thirty-five-year-old Ryan Douglas Halterman, of Gygas Road in Norfolk, was indicted on three counts of maiming while driving intoxicated. The May 6 incident involved a head-on collision on Lankford Highway, just north of Brickhouse Drive.
In the same crash, 38-year-old Blake Darwin Hughes, of Monet Drive in Virginia Beach, was indicted on a felony count of driving. on a suspended or revoked license for a second DUI.
Twenty-three-year-old Gustavo Morales-Velasquez, of Accomac, was indicted on a count of hit and run and a third DWI in five years in which he tested at between .15 and .20. The charges involved a crash at the intersection of Lankford Highway and Kate’s Drive. Morales-Velasquez breathalyzer test showed .17 grams per 210 liters of breath
Twenty-four-year-old Traveon Satchell, of Market Street in Onancock, was indicted on a June 2022 count of hit and run with damages of more than $1,000. Satchell was arrested in February.
Fifty-nine-year-old George Harry Gaskill, of Charnock Street in Exmore, was indicted on a Jan. 28 count of driving on a suspended revoked license for a 2nd or subsequent DUI.
