The Eastern Shore experienced its first measurable snowfall since the winter of 2022 overnight Sunday into Monday morning. Northern Accomack County reported 4-5 inches of snow, with 2-3 inches in the Onancock area and 1-2 inches in northern Northampton.

Unfortunately for snow lovers, the snowfall transitioned to rain by mid-morning, melting much of what had accumulated on the ground.

As temperatures drop overnight, the rain is expected to change back to snow, bringing an additional 1-2 inches of accumulation.

In the aftermath of this system, bitterly cold and blustery weather is forecast for several days. Daytime highs are expected to reach only the low to mid-30s, with overnight lows dipping into the teens and upper 20s. Strong north winds will contribute to the chilly conditions.
