The Eastern Shore is rich in maritime tradition. From seafood to boat building, many of the earliest Eastern Shore residents fed their families and earned a living from the water. The Eastern Shore Maritime Museum aims to preserve the history, celebrate the present and encourage the future of the watermen of Virginia’s Eastern Shore. The museum, located in the Historic Onancock School, is dedicated to researching, archiving and sharing the maritime history of the Shore.
This week Kelley visited with Hunting Creek native and head of the museum, Paul Ewell, as he shared some perspective and stories from growing up in a waterman family and how those memories fuel his passion to collect & share with others:
