This week, Kelley visited with Fred Janci, one of the organizers of the North Carolina Disaster Relief drive, upon his return from delivering donations from the Eastern Shore to the Swananoa area near Asheville. He shared his perspective from the trip to one of the hardest hit areas as a result of Hurricane Helene in September.
They are still struggling to rebuild their lives as the first winter-like weather has come early. As the cold season goes into full swing, it will leave western North Carolina residents shivering, including thousands still without power:
