A Greenbush resident was sentenced to five years in prison Thursday in Accomack Circuit Court for a third offense of DWI within 10 years.
All but 95 days of the term was suspended for Pedro Francisco Marcos. He was given a 60-day suspended sentence for falsely telling a police officer that his name was Luis Alfredo. The defendant was ordered to be on good behavior for a year.
According to evidence, Marcos had an alcohol level of 0.18. when he was driving on Nov. 10, 2024. The legal limit is .08. Marcos did not speak English and used a Spanish interpreter during the trial. He pleaded guilty to the charges.
In another case, 25-year-old Yashica Tonya Hope, of Onancock, was sentenced to three years each for two counts of assault and battery of a police officer with all but a year suspended. She pleaded guilty to the June 9, 2024 crimes. She was given a 12-month suspended sentence for destroying an officer’s eyeglasses and was ordered to pay $200 in restitution.
Obstruction and trespassing charges were not prosecuted against Hope. She could have received a maximum of 11 years in prison and $7,500 in fines and court costs for all the charges.
Forty-eight-year-old Curtis Samuel McCray, of Bethel Church Road in Hallwood, was sentenced to five years in prison with all but a year and nine months suspended for possessing oxycodone on May 30, 2024. He will be on supervised probation for two years.
Twenty-eight-year-old Brock Joshua Williams, of Saxis Road in Temperanceville, was sentenced to three years in prison with all but 30 days suspended for possessing cocaine on March 3, 2023. Two years of supervised probation was ordered.
Phillip Wayne Hope Jr., of Onancock, was sentenced to three years in prison with all but 30 days suspended for possessing cocaine on May 8, 2023. Two years of supervised probation was ordered.
