Several county residents were sentenced Tuesday in Northampton Circuit Court for various felonies.

Forty-five-year-old Cory Eugene Johnson, of Battle Point Road in Exmore, pleaded guilty to counts of hit and run and DUI with injury in connection with a crash that occurred on Lankford Highway in Nassawadox on May 4, 2024.

Court records show he had an alcohol level of .22 grams per 210 liters of breath. The legal limit is .08. Witnesses told authorities a vehicle came through the intersection of Franktown Road and Route 13 without stopping and struck another vehicle before driving away.

Johnson told authorities, “I didn’t do it on purpose. I left because I was scared.”

Commonwealth’s Attorney Jack Thornton said there were no serious injuries.

A presentence report was ordered. Sentencing was set for April 14. A plea agreement called for sentencing to be capped at a year and 2 months with three years of supervised probation and 10 years of good behavior.
