The Accomack County Board of Supervisors received the annual budget request from interim School Superintendent Dr. David Jeck at their meeting Wednesday night.
The Accomack County Public Schools (ACPS) budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year includes $23.4 million in local funding and $9.5 million for capital projects, reflecting a $314,042 increase in local funding from the previous year. The increase comes from the county’s revenue-sharing formula based on the proposed budget. The capital project funding will support facility maintenance, IT infrastructure, sheriff’s vehicles, and public safety equipment. Additionally, ACPS is set to receive $950,000 in supplemental funding annually from the Virginia state budget.
The Supervisors will review the request as part of ongoing budget negotiations. Delegate Rob Bloxom stated that budget supplements for both counties were included in the proposed state budget, which has been sent to Governor Youngkin. The General Assembly is scheduled to reconvene on April 2 to finalize the 2026 state budget.
