Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital (RSMH) has once again been recognized as one of the Top 100 Rural and Community Hospitals in the United States by The Chartis Center for Rural Health.

This marks the fifth year RSMH has earned national recognition, having previously secured a place on the Top 100 list in 2017 and 2020. From 2021 to 2024, the hospital consistently ranked within the top 20 for its exceptional rural health care services.

The National Rural Health Association (NRHA) compiles the Top 100 list annually based on an evaluation conducted by The Chartis Center for Rural Health. Hospitals are selected through the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX™, an objective assessment of approximately 800 U.S. rural hospitals that measures market performance, financial strength, and value-based care.

“We are incredibly honored to be named one of the Top 100 Rural and Community Hospitals for the fifth year in a row,” said Nick Chuquín, MSHA, FACHE, president of RSMH. “This achievement underscores our ongoing commitment to providing high-quality care close to home, ensuring that our neighbors, friends, and families have access to the best health care possible. We are deeply grateful for the trust and support of those we serve, and this is a shared success with everyone who makes our hospital a vital part of this community.”

As a key health care provider for the Eastern Shore, RSMH offers a full spectrum of services, including inpatient and outpatient care, diagnostics, emergency medicine, rehabilitation, surgical care, and wellness programs. The hospital’s dedicated medical team ensures that patients of all ages—ranging from newborns to critical care patients—receive compassionate, patient-centered treatment.

Mike Dacey, M.D., President & CEO of Riverside Health, emphasized the importance of this recognition, stating, “This honor reflects the hard work and dedication of the care teams at RSMH, as well as the strength and resilience of the Eastern Shore community. Being consistently recognized by the Chartis Center affirms that we are meeting the unique health needs of our rural population. It’s a privilege to serve our neighbors, and we remain committed to making an impact on the health and well-being of those who trust us with their care.”
