Rouse and Jones win Eastern Shore Democratic support

The Virginia Democratic Primary was held Tuesday, with low voter turnout as expected.

In Northampton County, 7% of registered voters participated. Aaron Rouse led the race for Lieutenant Governor with 360 votes (53%), followed by Richmond Mayor Lavar Stoney with 122 votes (18%). Jay C. Jones received 410 votes (60%) in the Attorney General race, while Shannon Taylor received 279 votes (40%).

In Accomack County, 1,135 ballots were cast—just 4% of registered voters. Rouse again topped the Lieutenant Governor race with 542 votes (49%), and Stoney received 193 votes (17%). In the Attorney General race, Jones received 588 votes (52%) to Taylor’s 538 votes (48%). Jones was endorsed by former Governor Ralph Northam.
