Renovation of Former Library is expected to relieve County Administration space issues

The Accomack County government is preparing for several office moves that officials say will improve space and parking at the County Administration Building in Accomac.

During Wednesday’s meeting of the Accomack County Board of Supervisors, County Administrator Mike Mason outlined plans tied to ongoing renovation projects in the county.

Mason said the renovation of the former library building will allow the Building and Zoning Department and the Environmental Affairs offices to relocate to that facility

He also noted that once renovations are completed at the former Accomac Elementary School, the School Board offices will move there. The relocation is expected to free up additional space for county operations and help ease parking congestion at the current Administration Building.

Current estimates call for the Accomac Elementary School renovation project to be completed in the spring of 2027.

When finished, the facility will serve as the new home of the School Board offices and provide a larger meeting space for the School Board, Board of Supervisors, Planning Commission, and other public agencies, allowing greater community participation.

County officials say the planned moves should also make it easier for residents and employees to find parking at the Administration Building.
