Pungoteague Ruritan Club awards scholarships

The Pungoteague Ruritan Club recently presented scholarships that totaled $8,000 to Lyeric Brickhouse and Allison Tittermary of Northampton High School, Marguerite Custis, Emma Philpott and Harlin Johnson of Broadwater Academy and Nathaniel Long of Nandua High School.

The scholarships are based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities and volunteer work in the community. Brickhouse will be attending VCU and majoring in forensic science, Tittermary will be attending James Madison University and majoring in business management,

Custis will be attending the University of Virginia and majoring in environmental science, Philpott will be attending Christopher Newport University and majoring in musical theater, Johnson will be attending Virginia Tech and majoring in agribusiness, and Long will be attending the University of Virginia and majoring in chemistry.
