The Public Hearing for Battery Storage LLC that was scheduled to be heard during the Planning Commission Meeting on October 9, 2024, at 7:00 pm has been canceled.
On Wednesday, October 2, 2024 the applicant’s attorney sent an email and subsequently, an official letter, requesting withdrawal of their rezoning application so they can review and revise it more thoroughly. Therefore, there will be no public hearing. While the application has been withdrawn indefinitely, it could be resubmited at a later date.
Battery Storage Holdings, LLC requests to conditionally rezone from the Residential District to the Industrial District parcels 26D-A-40 & 41 containing 4.51 acres and located on the west side of Withams Road, approximately 617’ east of its intersection with Neal Parker Road. This use will be controlled by zoning ordinance regulations. The application seeks rezoning to construct a battery storage facility.
The 2018 Comprehensive Plan recommends Agricultural use for the property.
The rezoning is requested so the property can be eligible for a small battery energy storage facility. This will be classified as a “utility distribution facility”, which is defined in the County zoning ordinance as follows:
- Utility distribution facilities means pipes, poles and wires, transformers, minor relay stations, meters, pump stations, switching stations, antennae, and other minor facilities for the distribution of utilities.
