The Army Corps of Engineers notified Accomack County Attorney Celia Burge Wednesday that the County owns 1.75 acres of lane at the site of the proposed jetty.  The County owned property is on the north side of the channel that comes into the harbor from the west side of the island.

Tangier has requested that the County deed the land to the town.  In order to legally do so, the Board of Supervisors must conduct a public hearing.

Supervisor Robert Crockett moved that the County conduct a public hearing on the matter at the regular Board of Supervisors meeting in August.  The motion was passed unanimously.
