One dead in Thursday night shootings

One is dead following shootings that occurred Thursday night on the seaside of Eastville.

According to Virginia State Police Sgt. Michelle Anaya, the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office requested the Virginis State police to respond and investigate a shooting incident that occurred at the intersection of Pauline Street and Seaside Road in Eastville, on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

The investigation is active and ongoing, and information is limited at this time.

Preliminary findings have revealed the following: At approximately 7:43 p.m. on January 9, 2025, the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office contacted state police regarding a shooting incident in Eastville. Upon arrival, troopers discovered one male victim suffering from serious, life-threatening injuries caused by the shooting. Shortly afterward, state police received another report of a second male victim who had been transported by family members to the EZ Stop(formerly Shore Stop) in Nassawadox. This victim also suffered serious, life-threatening injuries as a result of the shooting. Both victims were flown to Norfolk Sentara Hospital for treatment.

At this time, the cause of the shootings remains unclear. However, it appears both incidents occurred simultaneously at the same location—the intersection of Pauline Street and Seaside Road. The shootings are believed to be isolated, and there is no ongoing danger to the general public. One of the victims, identified as Vantrell C. Williams, 22, of the 1400 block of Harwood Street in Richmond, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at Norfolk Sentara Hospital. Next of kin has been notified.
