An Onancock man was arraigned Thursday in Accomack Circuit Court on charges stemming from January 2024 incidents
Fifty-three-year-old John Mills, of Market Street, entered not guilty pleas to felony counts of destroying more than $1,000 worth of property belonging to Juan Galvis on Jan. 26, and assault and battery of Officer N. Anderson, of the Onley Police Department, on Jan. 27. Mills also proclaimed his innocence on a misdemeanor charge of obstruction of justice.
The defendant requested a jury try his case. A date for that was set for March 27, 2025.
In another case, 38-year-old Bryant Montez Walker, of Melfa, pleaded guilty to distributing cocaine on June 20, 2023. According to evidence, a confidential informant bought the drug from Walker at the defendant’s barber shop in Onancock.
Two more charges of distribution of cocaine will not be prosecuted as part of a plea bargain. There was no agreement regarding sentencing, which was set for Jan. 9, 2025. A shortform presentence report was ordered. Bond was continued until sentencing.
