The new Old Farmer’s Almanac is out, offering a look ahead at the major weather trends expected in 2027.
For the Atlantic Corridor, which stretches from Boston to Norfolk, the Almanac is calling for a warmer-than-normal winter, with precipitation and snowfall slightly below average.
The coldest periods are expected in early to mid-December, early to mid-January, and again in early and late February.
The Almanac says any significant snow is most likely during the first half of January and in early and late February.
January temperatures are expected to average about one degree below normal, while February could run about one degree above normal.
Looking ahead to spring, March, April and May are expected to be warmer than average.
Rainfall is forecast to be slightly above normal in December, followed by somewhat drier conditions in January through April. May could turn wetter, with rainfall about three inches above average.
And the summer of 2027 is expected to bring some temperature swings, with June about one degree below normal, July roughly three degrees above normal, and August about one degree below normal.
The Almanac cautions that its long-range forecasts are intended to show broad weather trends rather than predict specific storms or individual days.
