An Oak Hall man was sentenced Thursday in Accomack Circuit Court to 35 years in prison for various drug charges and firearm offenses, with all but six years of active time suspended.

Forty-three-year-old Vasean Maurice Armstrong, of Lankford Highway, could have been sentenced to 55 years in prison.

Armstrong pleaded no contest to possession with intent to sell cocaine, possession of a gun while in possession of cocaine, possession of a firearm by a violent felon, and possession of ammunition by a felon. The charges stemmed from incidents that occurred on Valentine’s Day in 2025.

According to a proffer of evidence offered by Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney William Fox, the state police obtained a search warrant to seize items from his residence, which is directly across the street from Arcadia High School. Crack cocaine, pills, scales, and oxycodone were found. When released from custody, the defendant will be on five years of supervised probation and 35 years of good behavior.

In another case, 62-year-old Roy Thomas Wise, of Northam Drive in Accomac, pleaded guilty to counts of attempted burglary at property belonging to Lyle Purnell and possession of cocaine stemming from incidents that occurred last summer.

He was sentenced to five years in prison with all but a year suspended. Wise will be on supervised probation for two years and good behavior for five years. He has already served 245 days of his time. Wise said he has learned from his mistakes.

Forty-four-year-old Gerald Lee Evans, of Culls Drive in Cape Charles, was sentenced to 10 years with all but three years suspended for stealing a 1999 Buick belonging to Marvin Davis of Onancock. According to court records, Davis left his car running while at the Oceanway Convenience store in Tasley. Evans drove off with the vehicle and was arrested in Exmore. The incident occurred on Aug. 1, 2025.

Twenty-eight-year-old Wilber Enri Landaverde Murcia, of Gaithersburg, Md., pleaded guilty through a Spanish interpreter to a count of possession of cocaine on Jan. 5, 2026. He was given a three-year suspended sentence. Immigration has a detainer for him. Landaverde Murica was previously deported in 2015, authorities said.
