A Winter Storm Warning will be in effect from 10 AM Wednesday to 6 PM Thursday as heavy snow and strong winds target Virginia’s Eastern Shore. The National Weather Service predicts 5 to 10 inches of snow, with higher amounts likely in Northampton County. Wind gusts up to 30 mph will cause blowing and drifting snow.
The storm will arrive Wednesday afternoon, with a second round of snow expected Thursday afternoon in Accomack County. VDOT crews will pre-treat Route 13 Tuesday to prepare for the incoming weather system.
Travel conditions will be hazardous throughout the event, particularly during Wednesday’s commute periods. Officials strongly advise residents to complete preparations Tuesday and stay off roads by late Wednesday afternoon. Those who must drive should plan extra time, reduce speed, and maintain safe distances between vehicles.
