The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for Virginia’s Eastern Shore counties of Accomack and Northampton, set to take effect Sunday, February 15, from 9 AM to 7 PM EST.
Residents can expect powerful south to southwest winds reaching 25 to 30 mph, with gusts potentially climbing to 45 mph throughout the day. Weather officials warn these conditions could lead to scattered power outages and downed tree limbs across both counties.
Local transportation officials advise drivers, particularly those operating high-profile vehicles, to exercise additional caution on the region’s roads and bridges during this weather event. Residents are also encouraged to secure outdoor furniture and other loose objects that could become hazardous in the strong winds.
The advisory comes as part of a larger weather system affecting the Delmarva Peninsula, including several counties in Maryland’s Eastern Shore region.
