The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a Hazardous Weather Statement for the Eastern Shore.
Northwest winds are forecast to be 20-40 mph with gusts to 50-55 mph Friday with gusty winds continuing into Saturday as low pressure strengthens off the coast. Additionally, large breaking waves could result in minor beach erosion.
The National Weather Service has also issued a High Wind Watch, which is in effect from Friday morning through Saturday afternoon. Strong winds will cause downed trees and scattered power outages. Minor structural damage is possible. A Coastal Flood Watch is in effect from Friday morning through late Saturday night as well. Coastal residents should be alert for later statements or warnings and take action to protect property.
WESR will monitor and report as needed.
