Northampton Supervisors want report on potential Federal spending cuts effects on local services

The Northampton Board of Supervisors’ work session began Tuesday night with a discussion about potential federal spending cuts and their possible impact on local services.

Supervisor Oliver Bennett requested that Northampton Schools Finance Director Brook Thomas and Tange Francis of Eastern Shore Head Start be invited to outline how such cuts could affect their programs.

Supervisor Ernest Smith added that he would like to hear from Mozella Francis of Social Services regarding potential reductions to the SNAP program.

The Board agreed to add the report to the agenda for its regular August meeting.
