Northampton Supervisor calls on VDOT to create longterm plan for Cape Charles section of 13

Supervisor John Coker called on VDOT to create a long term strategy for the Cape Charles intersection and near by areas along Route 13 at Tuesday night’s meeting of the Board of Supervisors.

Coker presented a resolution, where he said the Supervisors believe there is a traffic safety issue on Route 13. He pointed to frequent traffic backups at the stoplight during the busy travel months, frequent cross overs by bicyclists and farming equipment and that the speed limits remain at 55. He added there are plans for a Royal Farms to be built within this section as well.

He asked VDOT to evaluate and develop a long term plan for Route 13 in this area, from Kiptoepeke Elementary School to Cherrystone Road.

The resolution was approved unanimously.
