Northampton County’s Administrator Charles Kolakowski reported at the monthly work session Monday evening that the EPA grant to help with the county’s brownfields has been approved.

Brownfields is a term that refers to buildings and properties that were once in use, but are not any longer. The $300,000 grant will fund consultants to look at properties in the County and make recommendations for what the county could do, whether it be to demolish, renovate, or another option.

Kolakowski and his team will now begin to identify the properties in the County that will be used in the grant process. The company who will be providing the assessment services for the buildings is Cardno. The grant is for approximately $300,000.
