At Tuesday night’s meeting of the Northampton County Board of Supervisors, Anne Wall and Paul Lee with Robinson, Farmer and Cox presented the firm’s findings for Northampton County’s financial audit. According to the two, Northampton recieved the highest marks you can get, an unmodified clean opinion of the County’s financial documents and procedures.
Last year’s audit turned up one issue with the County’s procedures, which was addressed. The County also recieved clean opinions in their handling of federal dollars, internal controls and financial reporting.
Northampton’s General Fund Balance has grown steadily since dropping to dangerously low levels in 2009. The County’s check book has more than 25% of actual combined expenditures of the General Fund, Department of Social Services Fund, the Eastern Shore Regional Jail Fund and School Operating Funds.
In other news from Tuesday night’s meeting, Spencer Murray was re-elected as the Board’s Chairman for his third consecutive term and John Coker was re-elected as Vice Chairman for his second consecutive term.
