A Norfolk man pleaded guilty Tuesday in Northampton Circuit Court to attempted grand theft and assault and battery.

Thirty-seven-year-old Darelle LeMart Biddle, of Bainbridge Boulevard, was initially indicted on a count of attempting to rob another by using physical force on Dec. 7, 2022. That charge was reduced to grand theft, which is a lesser felony. A presentence report was ordered. Sentencing was set for Dec. 16.

Biddle previously entered a plea of not guilty and requested a jury trial.  He complained about his lawyer back then saying, “I felt kind of pressured into the plea. I don’t understand to do jail time when I was only trying to help someone out.” He appeared with a new lawyer on Tuesday.
