A New Jersey man will not be prosecuted for seven indictments that alleged he committed crimes in Northampton County in September 2023.
A prosecutor was granted motions to not proceed with charges against 30-year-old Ibnetlan M-Juan Brockington, of Sicklerville. Brockington was initially indicted on counts of racketeering, possessing tools for forging, forgery of vehicle identification plates, buying or receiving stolen goods, conspiracy to remove or alter a vehicle number, possessing a fictitious ID, and altering or forging license plates on Sept. 15, 2023.
According to court records, a gray Nissan pickup was confirmed as stolen after passing through of South Plaza of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. When the vehicle was stopped, both Brockington and 44-year-old Christopher Gayton, of Scranton, Pa., the passenger, said they got the pickup from a mutual friend.
Gayton was indicted on the same charges. His trial is scheduled for Jan. 6, 2025.
In another case, 35-year-old Tanisha Monique Jackson, of Birdsnest Drive in Birdsnest, pleaded guilty to being a non-violent felon in possession of a gun on Jan. 26, 2023. Sentencing was set for Feb. 24, 2025.
Jackson told an officer that “her pit bull was attacking her small breed dog,” so she got her “fiancée’s firearm and shot into the air and then (at) the pit bull.” Jackson told a magistrate that she was remorseful, but was also scared. “Her dog got killed. She was trying to defend the dog’s life,” court records stated.
Thirty-seven-year-old Charles Alan Lewis Jr., of the Cape Charles area, was sentenced to 10 years in prison with all but three years suspended. He pleaded guilty to stealing a trailer, three ladders, roofing materials, and tools belonging to John Johnston on Feb. 11, 2024. It was not his first criminal conviction. Upon release, Lewis will be on supervised probation for three years.
