On Feb. 7, the Commonwealth had its 142nd generation of Virginia State Police troopers. The program welcomed 48 new troopers, with Gov. Glenn Youngkin speaking at the graduation ceremony. Graduates span from several different states and cities, several of which are in Hampton Roads.
Upon graduation, the new troopers will report to their individual duty assignments across Virginia.
The Eastern Shore will welcome one new trooper out of the graduating class. Trooper Jack Steven Winans, originally of Winchester, will be assigned to the Melfa barracks and work in Accomack County.
