According to an article in Saturday’s Virginian Pilot, election officials confirmed Friday that an independent in the 2nd Congressional District and a Libertarian Party candidate in the U.S. Senate race will be on the Nov. 6 ballot alongside major party candidates.
Shaun Brown, who ran unsuccessfully as a Democrat in 2016 against Rep. Scott Taylor, will join Taylor, a Virginia Beach Republican, and businesswoman Elaine Luria, a Norfolk Democrat, on the 2nd District ballot.
Libertarian Matt Waters, a Newport News native who lives in Fairfax County, successfully petitioned to be on the statewide Senate ballot with incumbent Tim Kaine, a Democrat, and Republican nominee Corey Stewart.
Waters and Brown were included in the Virginia Department of Elections list of certified candidates released Friday.
The 2nd District includes all of Virginia Beach and the state’s Eastern Shore as well as Norfolk’s north side and several localities on the Peninsula, including Williamsburg and York County.
