The sentencing of Malista Ness Hopkins has been rescheduled for June 6.

Hopkins was charged with five counts of child neglect after two of her five children were discovered locked in cages at her home in Mears. Her defense claimed at the trial that following the unexpected death of her boyfriend, Hopkins life spiraled out of control. She suffered from depression and was left in a dilapidated house with no means to fix it up. At her trial, she told the Judge she accepted full responsibility for her actions.

Hopkins pleaded guilty to five counts of child neglect in her trial in August of 2018 and is facing up to 25 years in jail.
