A Nassawadox man has been charged in connection with a series of shootings July 13 that left his girlfriend and mother dead and three other people injured in Northampton County.
According to Sheriff David L. Doughty Jr., Trevor Claude Henriques, 45, has been charged with two counts of attempted aggravated murder of a law enforcement officer, two counts of attempted aggravated second-degree murder and one count of possessing a firearm after having been convicted of a violent felony.
Authorities identified the two women who were killed as Katrina Henriques, 70, and Rebecca Knox, 37, both of Nassawadox.
Katrina Henriques was the defendant’s mother, while Knox was his girlfriend, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Authorities said the three other victims also were known to Henriques.
Deputies initially responded to Randall Circle in the Nassawadox area after receiving a report of shots fired. Authorities said an armed man fired several rounds at two occupied patrol vehicles before fleeing. One round struck a deputy’s ballistic vest.
A woman found wounded inside a residence was transported to Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital, where she later died.
Authorities later encountered the same armed suspect on Parallel Road in Machipongo, where he was allegedly firing at two residences and law enforcement officers. The suspect was struck by gunfire and taken into custody. Two men and one woman were injured at that location.
Investigators also linked the suspect to an earlier shooting on Seaside Road in Nassawadox, where another woman was found dead.
Additional charges are expected as the investigation continues, Doughty said. A motive has not been determined.
