Delegate Rob Bloxom Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares

Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares has decided to run again for Attorney General in the 2025 election. Miyares had been considered a possible candidate for Governor when Governor Youngkin’s term expires but decided to run to remain Attorney General. That leaves one declared Republican candidate,  Lt. Gov. Winsome-Earle Sears on the Republican ticket at this time.

Democratic Representative Abagail Spanburger and Merle Rutledge have announced they will run for Governor as well.

In announcing his decision on X, Miyares said, ” I am running for re-election as Attorney General. As Attorney General, I’ve deployed every tool available to keep Virginians safe and violent criminals off our streets. We are not going back to the failed policies of the past; our families’ safety and Virginia’s future depends on it.”
