Two men were given prison terms in Accomack Circuit Court Thursday for violent offenses. A fourth man pleaded guilty to two counts of credit card theft
Forty-seven-year-old Richard Liddle, of Crane Court in Horntown, was sentenced to five years with all but nine months suspended for assaulting Deputy E. Solorzano of the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office. The defendant was given another 12 months with all but a month suspended for the assault and battery of a neighbor. The second charge was reduced at trial from strangulation. Liddle will be on supervised probation for two years.
The incidents occurred on April 30, 2024. Deputy Solorzano responded to a report of an assault in progress involving a weapon. When the deputy arrived at the scene, he found Liddle yelling across his yard to the alleged victim. The defendant refused to be cuffed and hit the officer, according to court documents. He was “ultimately tased, which had no effect” before eventually being taken into custody. Liddle and the other man had been drinking together when Liddle assaulted him.
In another case, 37-year-old Miguel A. Marquez-Alvarez, of Crewe, Va., was sentenced to five years in prison with all but a year suspended for hit and run with injury and ten years with nine years suspended for DWI maiming. Those terms will run concurrently. Marquez-Alvarez was given another 12 months with six months suspended for a second DWI conviction, which will run consecutively with the other terms for a total of 18 months.
A breathalyzer showed the defendant tested 0.16 grams per 210 liters of breath. The legal limit is .08. The crimes occurred on March 6.
The third case involved 44-year-old Latrell Rashawn Davis, of Woodland Drive in Onancock. He was sentenced to ten years in prison with all but two years and 10 months suspended for illegally obtaining a credit card number on June 13, 2023. A second identical charge and two misdemeanors were not prosecuted. Upon release, Davis will be on supervised probation for two years.
Forty-one-year-old Winston Miller III, of Whites Neck Road in Parksley, pleaded guilty to two counts of credit card theft from July 29. Seven other identical charges were not prosecuted. Sentencing was set for Feb. 20, 2025.
