A 23-year-old Maryland man pleaded guilty Thursday in Accomack Circuit Court to possessing more than 23 ounces of marijuana with intent to sell the drug, eluding police, and possession of ammunition by a felon.
Malachi Kenol Tull, of Camden Court in Salisbury, could face up to 20 years in prison for the Dec. 27 crimes. He could also be fined up to $7,500.
An officer witnessed a vehicle swerving on Fleming Road in the New Church area and attempted to pull it over. The vehicle fled to Vernon Road, which goes through a trailer park. The car lost control multiple times and drove through yards and ditches while residents were outside. When it finally stopped, the driver fled on foot.
Drugs and scales were found inside the car, according to evidence. A fingerprint on the ammo box showed Tull had handled it. A presentence report was ordered.
In another case, 58-year-old Sandra Earlene Pruitt, of Hill Street in Onancock, was sentenced to five years for possession of cocaine with all but two years suspended, five years with all suspended for destroying evidence when she swallowed the drug to hide it from police, and a year for possessing the drug while on probation. She will be on supervised probation and good behavior for three years.
