Mary N. Smith Alumni Association Awards Scholarships to Five Graduates

The Mary N. Smith Alumni Association awarded scholarships to five graduating seniors July 13 in recognition of their academic achievements and plans to continue their education.

The scholarship program honors Mrs. Mary Nottingham Smith, whose lifelong commitment to educating and inspiring young people continues to have a lasting influence.

This year’s recipients are:

• Juan Gonzalez Miranda, a graduate of Arcadia High School, who will attend Virginia Tech.
• Jaqueline Diaz Salamanca, a graduate of Nandua High School, who will attend Virginia Wesleyan University/Batten University.
• Makhia Williams, a graduate of Nandua High School, who will attend Old Dominion University.
• Karma Robinson, a graduate of Nandua High School, who will attend Hampton University.
• Rylee Coates, a graduate of Northampton High School, who will attend the University of Delaware.

Coates was not pictured in the scholarship presentation photograph.

The Mary N. Smith Alumni Association congratulated the recipients and wished them continued success as they begin the next chapter of their education.
