In individual was sent by helicopter to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after he fell out of a deer stand at Savage Neck.   911 reports that they received a call at 5:27 pm. Nassawadox responded. Game Warden Steve Garvis investigated the case .  The man, identified as Neils Gylling of Pennsylvania was bow hunting on a deer stand when he fell asleep and fell off the stand.  Garvis said he fell 15 ft. to the ground experiencing a broken pelvis, ribs and possibly a broken neck.   Garvis said that it appeared Gylling was not wearing a safety harness.  Gylling was transported to Norfolk Sentara by a Life Evac helicopter. His current condition isn’t known.

Garvis reminded deer hunters who use tree mounted climb up stands to always use a safety harness. He said it’s the easiest thing you can do to prevent serious injuries.
