A Northampton Circuit Court jury convicted a Maryland man last week of seven felony offenses that occurred five years ago.
Forty-year-old Gerald Jermaine Pearson, with addresses in Baltimore and Westover, was found guilty of receiving or possessing a stolen vehicle, receiving or buying stolen property valued at more than $1,000, and illegally obtaining money on June 28, 2020.
A charge of grand theft auto, alleged to have occurred on the same date, was not prosecuted.
Pearson was also convicted of altering or forging a certificate of title, selling stolen property valued at more than $1,000, uttering a forged public record, and illegally obtaining money on June 29, 2020.
The defendant was acquitted of illegally obtaining a vehicle by pretenses involving the June 29 case. A charge of possessing a stolen vehicle from that incident was also not prosecuted.
A presentence report was ordered. Sentencing was set for Sept. 15.
