WASHINGTON, DC β Congresswoman Jen Kiggans (VA-02) released the statement below following her vote to pass the FY25 budget resolution in the House of Representatives. Overall, this legislation requires $1.5 trillion in mandatory savings over 10 years, provides up to $300 billion for border security and defense, and provides $4.5 trillion to prevent tax hikes.
βIn November, the American people made it clear that they want to reduce out-of-control government spending, secure our borders, and reignite economic growth. I voted for this budget resolution because it provides a path to deliver on those priorities and will allow the government to work more efficiently for all Americans.
βImportantly, this resolution does not include specific reductions to any programs or agencies. It simply contains topline budgetary instructions for committees to produce legislation that ensures tax relief for working families and small businesses, makes federal spending more efficient, unleashes energy dominance, and makes America safe again by investing in border security and our national defense.
βYesterdayβs vote is the first step to unlocking the legislative process we need to deliver on the promises we made to the American people and to launch a new era of strength and prosperity for our country. As we move forward with finalizing the budget, I will work around the clock as a Navy veteran, healthcare provider, and mom of four to fight for the needs of Virginiaβs Second District.β
