Representative Jen Kiggans is poised to serve another two years as the Republican representative for Virginia’s Second District. With 99% of the results in as of midnight, Kiggans had received 192,917 votes (50.92% of the total) compared to 177,345 votes (46.81%) for Democrat Missy Cotter Smasal.
Smasal has not yet officially conceded.
Kiggans won handily in Accomack County, earning an unofficial total of 6,177 votes to 3,274 for Smasal.
In Northampton County, Smasal narrowly defeated Kiggans, with 3,341 votes to Kiggans’ 3,274, a margin of just 67 votes.
Kiggans had started the evening with an 8 to 10 point lead in the district, which she maintained overall.
