Judgment Deferred for Birdsnest Woman in Boyfriend’s Knife Wounding

Judgment was deferred for a year Monday in Northampton Circuit Court for a 26-year-old Birdsnest woman who pleaded guilty to unlawfully wounding her boyfriend.

A plea agreement with Kadajha Jhane Walker, of Seaside Road, also called for the charge to be reduced to assault and battery of a family member, which is a misdemeanor if Walker completes an anger management class and remains on good behavior through July 19, 2027.

Judge Lynwood Lewis accepted the agreement and found evidence sufficient to find her guilty. The bargain did not include a sentence length. The maximum term for unlawful wounding is 5 years in prison and a $2,500 fine.

According to court records, Walker used a kitchen knife to cut her boyfriend in the face under an eye last January. The two argued about going to a party. He told Walker that she couldn’t go. She felt “kidnapped” so she went to the kitchen and grabbed a knife. The boyfriend then charged at her and fell on the knife, the file stated. In a 9-1-1 recording, Walker stated that she cut her boyfriend because he pushed her.
