
The Honorable Judge Wescott B. Northam passed away on Friday, February 7 at the age of 100. Northam was a General District Judge from Accomack County, with a distinguished career in law and public service.
He earned his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the University of Virginia and was admitted to the bar in 1949. Before his appointment to the bench, Northam served as the Commonwealth’s Attorney for Accomack County, where he was responsible for prosecuting criminal cases on behalf of the state. He presided as General District Court Judge in both Accomack and Northampton counties, succeeding Judge George Willis III.
In addition to his legal career, Northam is a U.S. Navy veteran, reflecting his commitment to public service.
