Indictments brought in Northampton Circuit

Two Exmore men were indicted by a Northampton Grand Jury this week on counts of armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery of a former coworker at his Occohannock Neck Road home in June.

The indictments accused 18-year-old Carmel Orlandez Roberto and 21-year-old Esaul Orlandez Roberto, both of Bayside Road, of the crimes. It appears that the two are related; however, the record did not indicate how. Both are being held without bond as a magistrate found them to be a danger to the community. Both men were also charged with misdemeanor assault and battery.

Benjamin Hernandez-Hernandez told authorities that he was sitting in his vehicle outside his home when the two approached at about 9:40 p.m., June 8. He said when they knocked on his door, he got out to see what they wanted. Hernandez recognized them and heard them ask for him.

When they saw him, they demanded $100 and became upset when he said he didn’t have any money on him, according to the record. They then asked for $50. When he said he didn’t have it, they beat him with their fists. The record stated that they took his cell phone, which contained $50, and fled before the police arrived.

Hernandez sustained major injuries to his face, including swelling of both eyes, bruising and bleeding to his lips, and several small lacerations.

In another case, 40-year-old John Miller, of Virginia Beach, was indicted on three counts of eluding police and unauthorized use of a silver Ford F250 truck, which bore North Caroline license plates.

The vehicle was spotted at around 3 a.m. on May 22, 2025. It was going 90 mph on Lankford Highway, near Machipongo. At one point, it traveled at speeds of around 130 mph and is alleged to have gone through Exmore at 100 mph. It crashed into a ditch near Belle Haven. Miller got out and fled on foot, the file stated. He was eventually apprehended.

Miller told authorities was headed to Buffalo, NY. He is being held without bond. He was also charged with misdemeanor counts of reckless driving, driving without a license, driving 20 miles or more over the speed limit, and fleeing from police.

Nineteen-year-old Brianna Shelby Brookshier, of Nassawadox, was indicted on counts of being a felon and possessing ammunition and possession of a Schedule I or II drug on Feb. 5, 2025.

Seventy-three-year-old William Franklin Parks, of Lincoln Avenue in Exmore, was. indicted on counts of receiving or buying a stolen firearm, conspiring to steal a gun, and stealing the weapon, which belonged to Adam and Heather Harris, between April 9, 2024, and March 1, 2025.

Forty-eight-year-old Randy Gilchrist, of Brockton Street in Boston, Mass., was indicted on a count of uttering a forged summons on July 6, 2020. He was arrested May 21, 2025.

Nineteen-year-old Johnathan Cole Stiles, of Fox Court in Eastville, was indicted on a count of stealing property valued at more than $1,000 that belonged to Scott Jones on May 14, 2025. He was also charged with misdemeanor counts of having improperly marked buoys and obstructed cull rings on more than 10 of 25 crab pots.

Twenty-six-year-old Aleakie Treontae Tazewell, of Brown Avenue in Exmore, was indicted on a count of eluding police on May 31, 2025. He was also charged with six misdemeanors.

Twenty-nine-year-old Reginald Levant Chavous, of Machipongo, was indicted on a count of being a felon in possession of ammunition. He allegedly had 16 Winchester 12-gauge rounds, three Remington 12-gauge buckshot rounds, 27 .38 special rounds, and four 40 caliber rounds. Chavous is being held without bond.

Twenty-seven-year-old Daiqwain Jemont Walker, of Cabarrus Drive in Nassawadox, was indicted on a count of unauthorized use of a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis, on June 15, which belonged to Ashley Church. Walker told authorities that Church’s boyfriend permitted him to use the car.

Fifty-eight-year-old Alberta Jacklyn Sides, of Roger’s Drive in Nassawadox, was indicted on a count of possession of a Schedule I or II drug on Nov. 22, 2024. She was arrested in April.

Twenty-four-year-old Joshua Hunter Smith of Seaside Road in Exmore was indicted on a count of unauthorized use of a 2006 Ford Expedition belonging to Keneisha Spady between Jan. 19 and 20, 2025. He allegedly was driving the vehicle that night when it crashed.

All of the above are presumed innocent  until proved guilty  in a court of law.
