The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a Heat Advisory in effect from 11:00 AM this morning until 8:00 PM this evening.

According to the National Weather Service, heat indices, which is a combination of temperature with humidity, could reach as high as 106 in certain areas of inland Worcester and Somerset, and as high as 100 in Accomack and Northampton County.

Hot temperatures and high humidity could cause heat related illnesses. If you plan to be outdoors, please schedule regular breaks for rest in shade or air conditioned environments. Drink plenty of fluids and check up on relatives and neighbors. Anyone overcome by heat should be mvoed to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency, call 9-1-1.
