Heat Advisory Issued for Accomack County Wednesday

The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a Heat Advisory for Accomack County from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Forecasters say heat index values between 105 and 109 degrees are expected. The combination of hot temperatures and moderate to high humidity could increase the risk of heat-related illnesses.

The advisory includes Accomack County, along with portions of southeast Maryland and eastern Virginia. Northampton County was not listed in the advisory issued Tuesday afternoon, but residents across the Eastern Shore should still use caution during periods of high heat and humidity.

Residents are urged to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned spaces when possible, avoid prolonged time in the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors.
