A 54-year-old health care worker was sentenced Monday in Northampton Circuit Court to three ten-year terms in prison for possession with intent to distribute cocaine in 2023.
The terms were set to run concurrently, with all but a year suspended for Shinnette Marie Williams, of Cape Charles. The crimes occurred on April 21 and 25, and May 1, 2023.
Williams, who has been a home health provider for 14 years, was ordered to report to the Eastern Shore Regional Jail on Aug. 1, which would allow time for her employer to find a replacement. Upon release, she will be on three years of supervised probation and 10 years of good behavior.
In another case, 66-year-old Alvarez Eugenio Gonzales, of Eastville, was sentenced to five years in prison, the maximum penalty for failing to register as a Tier III sex offender. All but seven months of the term were suspended. The felony occurred on March 15, 2022.
According to court records, Gonzales is required to register because of a 1998 conviction in Norfolk City Circuit Court of taking indecent liberties with children. Upon release, Gonzales will be on supervised probation for five years and good behavior for 10 years.
