On Sunday, February 18, the Eastern Shore of Virginia Habitat for Humanity will dedicate its newest house. This house will be the home of Rhashedia Brown and her two children. They and their friends and family have worked alongside all the volunteers in building the home. Rhashedia will purchase the home from Habitat at cost and will repay an interest-free mortgage to the affiliate.

Eastern Shore of Virginia Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and people everywhere to build simple and affordable houses in decent communities.

The dedication ceremony will begin at 3 PM at the house, 25498 Shoremain Drive Bloxom, VA. Many of the volunteers who helped build the house will be there, along with many of the other Habitat homeowners and supporters. All are invited to join the festivities, as Rhashedia becomes a homeowner for the first time. A reception with light refreshments will be provided following the ceremony.

Anyone who attends is asked to bring a “pound” of any essential household supply such as coffee, sugar, flour, rice, etc. This is to continue an old Eastern Shore custom known as “pounding’. These items will give Rhashedia a start on her home pantry and will be a blessing to her. The Food Bank will also supply essential pantry items to start them off.

Please call the Habitat office for information about the dedication or the programs of Habitat- 442-HOUS (4687).
