On Friday, July 25, a gray fox tested positive for rabies in the area of Ambulance Road in Oak Hall.
Anyone who may have had contact with the animal—either directly or through pets—is urged to contact the Accomack County Health Department at 757-787-5886 or Accomack County Animal Control.
Rabies is a deadly viral disease that attacks the nervous system. It is preventable in domestic animals through vaccination, but it is fatal to both animals and humans if left untreated.
